Wine has been passion of mine ever since I was a little girl. I was always fascinated by the fancy wine glasses set at our dinner table, and the way wine made people smile a little bigger or laugh a little louder. One night while I was proudly pouring my mom's glass of wine she said to me "Kelley, make sure you pour a polite glass of wine" and from there my curiosity turned into an obsession.
After spending just over a year of my life living in Paris in my mid twenties, my whole world changed. I gained a new appreciation for the culture of wine and how it was a part of people's every day life. I loved how we enjoyed a glass with each meal and the way it enhanced the flavour of what I was eating. It turned each meal into an experience.
Once I moved back to Calgary, I worked in the wine business selling wine to restaurants and wine boutiques. I had the pleasure of hosting wine makers and other fascinating people from all over the world.
Being at home with my two boys Benjamin and Noah has been a huge blessing, but having something just for me makes me feel alive. I love teaching a group of people how to slow down and really taste a glass of wine; to appreciate what you are seeing, and smelling and all the flavours you encounter and how that changes everything. I love finding a new grape varietal, something I've never tried before or even knew existed. Wine has so many facets and so much intrigue and the more your learn about it, the more there is to know. I will happily be a student for life.
My goal is that you come to one of our workshops and leave feeling a bit different. To feel like you have been a part of something with culture, creativity, and charm. A little something I like to call Heart & Swirl. xx
